Commissionar Malmström, we thank you for this third invitation to a dialogue with the Civil Society about the CETA agreement.   But to be frank, the more we meet, the more we have the feeling that we find ourselves in a fake dialogue with the European Commission.  For it appears to fostered and guided by forces uninterested in effective exchanges between professional politicians and spokespersons of the People.

The more we come here, the more we have the feeling that we are exclude from the democratic construction of a “common” (?!) European Dream that we cherish since a so called “Enlightened Plutocracy” (Business Europe and Business America whose capital is Davos) is intent on building our future regardless of any democratic consensus.

Our justified demands to participate in this historical process of a Utopian Europe do not make us «Communists” or “Populists”.  We are neither.   We simply feel with Abraham Lincoln (hardly a communist!) that “Democracy is the government of the people and for the people”.

Last year, we reminded you that, as a Swedish citizen, you come from a country that has built up probably the best social, fiscal and environmental system in the world.

The famous American moralist Michael Sandel, professor at Harvard University (again hardly a nest of “anarchists”), advises the whole world to adopt the “Swedish socio-political system” – one that you seem intent on undermining all the while!

Apart from the fact that the Commission used all kind of undemocratic tricks to push through this “temporarily” (?) adopted agreement, the latest report asked by President Macron to Professor Katherine Schubert, environmental economist about the treaty’s environmental protection quality declares THAT NOTHING HAS BE DONE IN THIS RESPECT.  On the contrary, such treaties boost our already dramatic CO2 emissions.

Ms Malström, due to your lack of initiative and dilatory promises, will we be obliged to import those incredibly soiling and CO2 overproducing SAND OILS coming from Canada? Could multinationals sue us in court and inflict astronomical fines for refusing them?

On the other hand, what does it mean to eat canadian food, if it induces still more CO2 emissions for the transport? Your statements and the one of the Commission about world trade are completely old faschioned and don’t take those so important measures into account!

Above that all, unless we heard you wrong you would seem to have said that, as democratic adoption processes are “TOO SLOW AND INEFFICIENT (sic!), the European Commission will take the initiative in to signing commercial treaties without any democratic participation or approval thereof !

Ms Malström, what could be more “populist” and  “patronizing” than such an undemocratic  statement?

In one of his latest speeches, President Juncker stated that the European building process has for better or for worse reached  A DEFINING MOMENT.

Is it too much to ask that you PRESERVE THE SACRED CORE OF EUROPEAN POLITICAL HUMANISM:

THE GOVERNMENT OF THE PEOPLE AND BY THE PEOPLE?

We thank you for your attention and remain open to further dialogue about our the European future we are still dreaming of.
